This
poem was written for my daughter Debbie for her graduation. She should've
graduated in 1997, a few days after her 18th birthday. This
poem was written by her cousin, Amanda Beebe.
FOR
DEBBIE
by
Amanda Beebe
This year you
would graduate,
You'd wear your
cap and gown,
And though you're
not here with us,
In our hearts
you can be found.
For we have not
forgotten you,
since you went
away,
The Lord, he called
to you,
and you couldn't
stay.
We know you're
in a better place,
But this is still
tough,
For once, we had
you with us,
Now memories aren't
enough.
We loved you so
Dear Debbie,
And now, though,
you are gone,
A part of you
is with us,
Your memory carries
on.
I'm sure you're
watching down on us,
From Heaven up
above,
And I know, you
know, dear Debbie,
How much you were
loved.
You flew away,
And went to a
better place,
In our hearts
there's a part,
That can never
be replaced.
This is the day,
dear Debbie,
That you would
graduate,
But, the Lord
had plans for you,
You had a different
fate.
He needed you,
dear Debbie,
And so you had
to go,
But to you, Dear
Debbie,
We couldn't let
go.
And so on this
day, Dear Debbie,
Your graduation
day,
We can't help
but be sad,
that you've gone
away,
On this day, dear
Debbie,
Though your life
here is through,
In everyone of
us,
there is a part
of you.
We loved you so,
dear Debbie,
and though you've
gone away,
In our hearts
forever,
Your memory will
always stay.
